More and more halal products and services been introduce to the market today. Yesterday Malaysia companies trying to introduce a Halal Spa to boost the tourism industry. Spa is a very good way of keeping healthy. In Spa the combination of aromatherapy, herbal bathing and body massaging can give you a sense of relaxation and relief from the hectic daily life.
However, due to Islamic practices and some Spa concept that are not suitable for Muslim, it the time to come with Halal spa. I think the basic concept for Halal Spa is that all the products that being used in this spa is certified Halal. The products such as soap, aromatherapy oil should be halal.
The service provided should be individually tailored . For example, if the customers is a women , it should be handle by the women and if the customers is a men, it should handle by a man. This is compulsory because Muslim women are prohibited of showing her body to other people except his close families and another women except in the some cases.
I expect the Halal spa will be another niche market and services that will be booming industry in the years to come !.

Malaysia Science University(USM) is producing Halal Meningitis Vaccine for the used of muslim around the globe. Meningitis vaccine is a requirement for muslim in order to performed Haj in Mecca.
Before this Malaysia importing this vaccine from the west which

Halal Training Program
I attended a briefing about Halal Training Program conduct by Halal Industry Development Corporation (HDC) at Crystal crown at Petaling Jaya.The Halal Industry Development Corporation is an initiative by the Malaysian Government to ensure the integrated and comprehensive development of national Halal Industry.
HDC is a private company that coordinates efforts to review standards, development of local industry, promotions of Malaysia Halal products and services in international markets, as well as support investment in domestic and international Halal sector.
One of the HDC activities is conducting training program for individual or companies in Halal Industry.The training programs have been design and conduct by professional from University Putra Malaysia and International Islamic University.
The programme includes :-

Halal hair cream
I bought halal hair cream few days ago. I have to use halal hair cream to make sure all the ingredient contains in the hair cream and the proses met the Islamic requirement. This is important because some hair cream may contains certain ingredient that is not meet the Islamic practices.
This hair cream is certified halal by Malaysia religious authority. The halal logo was printed at the packaging and it make me easy to choose the halal product. The hair cream is specially formulated to creat and hold the hair style that I want. It contains d-Panthenol (provitamin B5) that imparts elasticity, shine and long lasting moisture to hair.
I used this hair cream every day and it give me the confidence feel because it's halal hair cream and it also moisturizing my hair and it does not give such an oily hair.

Don't simply put 'Halal' label on your products.
Muslim is forbidden to eat pig and others products that are not slaughtered according to Islamic religions. Eating halal issue is very important agenda in Muslim daily life. As a Muslim, I also have to eat halal food, no compromise on this !.
Eating halal food is important because one's can be place in hell if he or she eat Haram food means forbidden food like pig. Those Muslim who eat haram food, his prayer or if he asking help from God, the God will answer his or her help. This is what I as a Muslim belief and really hold to it. I don't want to go hell after I die !.
Therefor, if I buying any food for my family, especially when comes to meat, oils and something to do with fats, I really look for recognize halal label that been issued by Authorized Local Islamic community.
The simple concept also apply if I want to bring my family for eating out in restaurant in Malaysia. As some of you may know that Malaysian consist of various races and religions. If you are Muslim, be careful when eating out in Malaysia. Not all Malaysian restaurant is Halal Restaurant. If you doubt asked the owner if their restaurant is halal or not, if they said halal, asked for Halal Certification.
That why The Kentucky Fried Chicken, MacDonald and many others so call American fast food sold in Malaysia been certified halal in Malaysia and one thing for sure that they make million's of money every year !.
So, if you want to capture this some said 3 trillions dollars market or you want label your products halal make sure you ask local recognize Islamic Authority or Community. You products must be certified Halal by Local or Islamic Authority, and one's certified then you can put the 'Halal' words or logo as 'co-branded' to your product label. This is the best way.
If someone simply put the word 'halal' or any kind of halal logo, without the certification or recognition from Muslim Authority or Community, he or she have a big risk here. If someone or Muslim communities found that your product's contains non halal such as pig and many other products that forbidden to Muslim, the Muslim community will spread the news among Muslim.
We live in information ages, there for this informations can be spread with an hour to the whole Muslim community to the local Muslim and it can go up to the whole country even the world!. It's is because Muslim is very, very sensitive about eating non-halal or haram products.
Why I know this ?. It happen in Malaysia once,. It begin with a news in one of our major news, saying that the local Muslim Community have raid a local well known bread manufacturer which is belief to use non-halal ingredient for producing bread. After that I, my self received hundred of SMS from many people known and unknown tell this news.
The result, the bread with that brand have been boicot from the Muslim Coomunity and I heard that they are loosing the market share because not just Muslim don't want to buy that bread but it also because the Muslim Shop owners also don't want to sell that product.
Therefore, don't just simply label your products with the word 'Halal'. Get local Islamic comunity to certified and recognize your Halal label.

Halal Housing Loan
Halal housing loan that I used to buy my apartment 4 years ago. As a Muslim, I'm cannot use any financial service that have something to do with interest or riba' . Thus, I have to find any halal financial products that I can use to buy my dream apartment.
In Malaysia there a lot of banking institution that offer halal financial services. So what the halal housing loan means. Actually I not really understand the terms but as being explained by the banking officer, I come to understand this products.
The halal housing loan concept is simple. The bank will buy the house from the house developer and then after do some calculation the bank will sell back the house to me at certain prices. I in the other hand,will pay the bank at certain fix amount for the next 20 years. This is how they apply the halal concept.
Let be explain my experienced. I have found my dream apartment that being build by housing developer. The developer will sell the apartment at MYR75,000.00. After pay some deposit, I will bring the relevant paper to the bank. The bank review and I told the bank officer that I want to purchase this apartment will halal housing loan and will to pay monthly to the bank for the next 20 years.
The bank officer than value the apartment and calculating and do estimation the apartment value at the end of the 20 years. So the bank value my apartment and they said that after 20 years the apartment value is MYR120,000.00. By the bank will buy the house from the developer at MYR75,000.00 and the sell back to me at MYR120,000.00. Which mean that I need to pay the bank at the fix amount MYR5oo.o every months for the next 240 months.
In this case the bank made a profit about MYR120,000. - MYR75,000.00 = 45000.00. The payment that I have to make is just MYR500.00 and it's fix. At the beginning, I thought I'm losing a lot of money here, but because the advantage is that I can properly plan my budget, because every months I just have to aside MYR500.00 to pay for the halal housing loan.
It is not like the conventional, that the amount that one's have to pay may be fluctuated, depends on the interest rates. If the interest rate goes down you have to pay less. But when the interest rates goes up, you have to pay more !. For me if this thing happened to me, where I have to find the extra money, while my income is fix !. This make me worries less what ever going to happen in the interest rate.
But one good news for me is that, my neighbors have sold his apartment last months at MYR115,000.00 !. So it means that my apartment value is now is about at MYR100,000.00 and I don't need to wait for 20 years !. Therefore if next 20 years my apartment maybe value at MYR200,000.00. If that so everybody WINS , the bank and me !. Insya Allah. That what I have experienced using halal housing loans. In Malaysia, as I know, one's not necessary to be a Muslim to use halal financial services.

Halal Toothpaste
Halal toothpaste is a toothpaste that have been certified halal by Local Halal Authority. In Malaysia, halal certification can be done by JAKIM. As a Muslim, I also have to brush my teeth at least twice a day. When I woke up in the morning and before I went to bed. This is routine things to do in normal life. So why Muslim are so concern about Halal Toothpaste ?.
Muslim have to use and eat halal. Muslim are forbidden to eat pork and some other things. All meat that Muslim can eat should comes from animal like cattle and goat that have been slaughtered according Islamic religion. So what this has to do with Halal Toothpaste ?.The key words is the toothpaste ingredients.
Toothpaste is made from many thing such as sodium bicarbonate, fluoride, calcium and many other thing depends on the type of toothpaste the manufacturer produce. What really concern of Muslim about toothpaste is some toothpaste contain Calcium in their ingredient. The question is where do this calcium came from ?.
Some industrial source said that this calcium can originate from animal bones and some from the mineral. Then comes the issue that if the calcium comes from animal bones , what type of animal and is this animal (if cattle) slaughtered according to Muslim religion ?.

World Halal Forum
World Halal Forum 2007
World Halal Forum 2007 was held in Malaysia on May this year. I have the opportunity to attend this 2 days forum. World Halal Forum have drawn many participation from various countries around the globe. There about more than 1000 peoples attending this World Halal Forum 2007.
Many papers have been presented by various presenter from many countries. At this forum people share their country experiences in dealing with halal products and halal services. With this kind of halal forum, more and more Muslim realize that there are many halal products and services aviable to them. At this World Halal Forum there also an halal exhibition held at the same floor with the World Halal Forum.
The participants in this forum not limited to the Muslim but non Muslim participants also attended this World Halal Forum. Various topic have been discuss beginning with Halal concept, Halal food production, Halal banking system, Halal certification and logo and many others.
There are some issue such as the Halal Food production not just limited to the certification of the food is halal but there some thought that been arise, the financial system that being used in one's company should be Halal.
Conjunction with the World Halal Forum, there a Malaysia largest halal exhibition, Malaysia International Halal Showcase 2007, held beginning on the third days of World Halal Forum 2007. Both of these event held at Kuala Lumpur Convention Center, or famous name with KLCC. KLCC is very close to the Kuala Lumpur twin tower. Many people have attended this Malaysia International Halal Showcase or MIHAS. MIHAS is a yearly event and I think they will have MIHAS 2008 next year.

Halal Products
Halal products is a growing market today. With the Muslim population is estimate about 1.8 Billion around the globe, halal products can promising a good market. Muslim have to choose and buy Halal products, therefore the halal products have already have it's own big potential buyer.
Halal products can be looked from two perspective. One is halal products by itself such as physical products like halal toothpaste, halal food, halal shoes, halal ingredient and the other one is halal services like halal banking system, halal hire and purchase, halal insurance and many others.
Now a days, we can see more and more Islamic bankers dominated the Muslim countries. Even the conventional banker now started giving special attention's to this market by venturing into the halal banking system because if not the Muslim in these countries will turn to bank that giving loan that follow the Islamic teaching. This is how important the halal products.
